Better together: Atlantic General Hospital joins TidalHealth
Earlier today, Atlantic General Hospital joined TidalHealth. So, what does this mean for patients?
This partnership benefits patients from both healthcare systems and the community at large, providing more access, a stronger network and the same high quality of patient care. Combined, the systems will have a more extensive network of providers, cutting-edge medical technology and a seamless healthcare experience.
The goal of the partnership is ensuring the highest quality care for our community – closer to home.
In addition to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, numerous practices, including primary and specialty care offices, will be joining TidalHealth. This includes practices in Berlin, Ocean Pines and Ocean City, Maryland, and Selbyville, West Fenwick and Ocean View, Delaware.
In December, the boards of Atlantic General Hospital and TidalHealth signed a non-binding Letter of Intent to combine organizations. At a signing today, the decision became official.
Not all changes will take effect right away. For example, Atlantic General Hospital will still be going by its existing name, with a future name change expected next year.
The entire health system, now including Atlantic General Hospital and its offices, will be using Epic for its electronic medical records system, which will be easier for both patients and providers. Patients know this system as MyChart. However, it takes time to transfer records, so this won’t happen right away.
