Fun Delmarva events to inspire your new year's exercise goal

Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to exercise more? Putting an event on the calendar can give you something to work toward. Members of Team TidalHealth have suggested some of their favorite Delmarva races, rides and other athletic events. Some events are not yet open for registration for 2025, but most events are held on the same weekend each year, so check back when it’s a little closer for the 2025 date.

February

Algonquin 50k

Feb. 8, 2025

Jaime Rosevear, medical assistant at TidalHealth, recommends the Algonquin 50k. While the 2025 race is sold out, you could always put it on your schedule for 2026 and work toward this long-distance goal race, which is held on the trails of Pocomoke River State Park and starts and ends at Milburn Landing in Pocomoke City. She says: “The snack stations were amazing; I have never had food like this for a race, from candy to tacos. Very flat and the people were incredibly nice. If you are thinking of doing a 50k, this is the one to do.”

Color Run Festival

2024 event was third Saturday in April

Tamara Giles, clinical nutrition manager at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, recommends the Color Run Festival hosted by the Wicomico County Health Department in Delmar. And just because “run” is in the name, it doesn’t mean you need to run. Giles says: “I've had fun at color runs even though I walked, and this one supports suicide prevention.”
