Children running a race in the fall

Add a run/walk to your Thanksgiving traditions

Of course, having a delicious feast and spending time with family are Thanksgiving traditions. But for many people, another important one is kicking off the day with a Turkey Trot race.

RunSignUp, a race registration website, calls Thanksgiving “the biggest US running day of the year,” with more than 920,000 participants in Thanksgiving Day races in 2023.

Will you be one of those participants this year? There are races happening across Delmarva, and you can bring the whole family. If you haven’t been training for a run, you may want to walk or take it easy – or train to participate next year.

Some races also have costume contests, so be sure to add to the holiday fun with a turkey, pie, fall or other related ensemble.

The following races are all happening Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28.
